Copper winding wire is the single most requested item in our RFQ history. Maintenance and rewinding teams buy it by SWG or diameter, by weight, usually together with sleeves, varnish, Nomex and tapes for the same job.
Tell us the gauge, insulation grade and quantity in kilograms. Copper-based prices move with the copper market, so every quotation carries a validity date.
What buyers specify
| Conductor | Electrolytic-grade copper |
|---|---|
| Sizes | By SWG (for example 10-40 SWG) or bare diameter in mm; half gauges such as 18.5 and 22.5 SWG on request |
| Insulation | Polyester / polyesterimide enamel, single or dual coat; glass-fibre or paper-covered on request |
| Thermal class | Commonly Class F (155 °C) or Class H (180 °C); specify what your motor or transformer needs |
| Reference standards | Buyers typically specify IS 13730 / IEC 60317 grades |
| Packing | Spools or reels; ordered by weight (kg) |
| Unit of purchase | kg |
Typical options buyers specify. Exact ranges depend on make and availability and are confirmed on the quotation.

Questions buyers ask
How should I specify copper winding wire in an RFQ?
Give the SWG number or diameter in mm, the insulation grade or thermal class, the quantity in kg for each size, the preferred make and the required date. If you are rewinding a specific motor, the old winding data sheet helps.
Do you quote half gauges?
Yes. Half gauges such as 18.5 or 22.5 SWG are regularly quoted alongside standard sizes.
Why does the rate change between quotations?
Winding wire is priced largely on copper, which moves daily. Each quotation states its validity; after that we re-check the rate before confirming.

- Fibreglass & Silicone Insulation SleevesGlass-fibre and silicone-coated sleeving for motor leads, joints and winding connections.
- Insulating Varnish & ThinnerAir-drying, baking and spray insulating varnishes and matching thinners for rewinding.
- Nomex & Laminated Insulation PaperAramid (Nomex) paper and laminates such as NMN / DMD for slot and phase insulation.
- Aluminium Winding Wire & StripEnamelled and paper/glass-covered aluminium wire and strip for transformers and coils.
