Ordering rewinding materials in one list avoids the most common delay in a motor repair: waiting for the one item that was forgotten.
Checklist
- Winding wire - gauge(s), grade / thermal class, kg per gauge
- Slot insulation - Nomex / NMN / DMD by thickness and width
- Phase separators and wedges
- Insulation sleeves for leads and joints - by bore size
- Lead wire - size and insulation (glass / silicone)
- Tapes - cotton, polyester or glass tape by width
- Varnish and thinner - type (air-dry / baking) and pack size
- Brazing or soldering consumables for joints
- Cable lugs for the motor terminals
Match the thermal class of every insulating material to the motor's insulation class. A Class H winding needs Class H-rated insulation throughout.
